Exploring the key aspects of the mandatory digitalisation of transport documentation in a new webinar with Docuten

From the Cluster Catalonia Logistics, together with Docuten, we have organised a new webinar to explore one of the most significant regulatory changes that the road transport sector will face in the coming months: the mandatory digitalisation of transport control documentation.

During the session, we were able to analyse the main changes this regulation will introduce and the challenges it will bring for companies. One of the main takeaways was that digitalisation is about much more than replacing paper with electronic documents. It also requires a clear understanding of which documents will become mandatory, the requirements they must meet, and the roles and responsibilities of the different stakeholders involved. In this regard, concepts such as the DECA, the consignment note and the eCMR were clarified, three documents that are often confused, but which have different functions within the new regulatory framework.

The webinar also covered the essential requirements for ensuring that electronic documentation is legally valid. Topics such as traceability, secure document storage, access to information during roadside inspections and the use of electronic signatures were highlighted as key elements for ensuring compliance while improving document management processes.

Another important topic was the need for close collaboration between shippers, logistics operators and carriers. As digitalisation will impact the entire transport chain, all parties will need to share information efficiently and securely to ensure a smooth transition to the new regulatory environment.

The session concluded with a series of practical recommendations to help companies prepare for the changes, encouraging businesses to start planning early, involve their teams and view digitalisation as an opportunity to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.
